Manchester United’s manager, Ruben Amorim, has shared his thoughts on the challenges of competing in the Europa League.
According to the former Sporting CP manager, the Champions League doesn’t provide the same difficulties as the Europa League.
Talking after his side’s 1-1 draw against Real Sociedad on Thursday, March 6, 2025, Amorim disclosed that the Europa League schedule, which makes Manchester United play on Thursday nights, means his team do not get the maximum days to recover for their Premier League games.
He, however, acknowledged that his side have to learn to deal with the schedule, despite the toll it takes on them.
“The Europa League is so much harder, in my opinion, than the Champions League. Not the games, but the recovery to play in the Premier League on the weekend, so we have to deal with that,” Ruben Amorim said.
He further disclosed how he has been made to rotate his squad to ensure that his players are not affected by the tightness of the fixtures.
“In the beginning, people talked about our rotation, especially in Europe. We’re changing all the time because it’s really hard,” he further added.
Meanwhile, Manchester United will host Arsenal on Sunday, March 9, 2025, as Amorim seeks to turn around their season. They currently sit 14th on the league log after 27 games, having amassed 33 points.
