Ghana was gripped by an emotional scene on Friday as First Lady Lordina Mahama could not hold back her tears during the second day of the national wreath-laying ceremony in honour of the eight victims of last Wednesday’s tragic Ghana Air Force helicopter crash.
The solemn ceremony, held at the Ceremonial Garden of Jubilee House, brought together top government officials, grieving families, and hundreds of mourners.
Mrs. Mahama, flanked by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah and comforted by her children, visibly broke down moments before placing her wreath — a moment that left many in attendance deeply moved.
The helicopter crash on August 6, 2025, claimed the lives of military officers and government officials, plunging the nation into a three-day mourning period. This week’s ceremonies have been marked by tears, tributes, and a collective sense of loss.
As the First Lady laid her wreath, the weight of the tragedy was felt not just by her family but by the entire nation.
